Canaveral National Seashore welcomed the Boys & Girls Club of Volusia and Flagler Counties on June 25 for a fun-filled day of learning and outdoor adventure. Thanks to the generosity of Jason McGuirk from Dairy Queen New Smyrna Beach, the group enjoyed a delicious lunch of hot dogs and chips, with volunteer chef Dan Triska serving as grill master to cook hot dogs for everyone.
The day was packed with hands-on activities that gave the children an opportunity to explore and learn. Canaveral Junior Angler interns introduced them to the basics of fishing and the art of rope making. The youngsters also had a chance to explore the park law enforcement vehicles. It was a memorable day filled with education and plenty of smiles made possible by the generosity and dedication of park staff, volunteers and community partners.
A special thank you to the following Friends of Canaveral volunteers: Kati White, Karen Caldwell, Rod Rich, Marti Woods and Dan and Jill Triska.
